Foundation Engages CFT for National Pilot to Build and Train Catholic School Boards
The Healey Education Foundation and Catholic Faith Technologies are collaborating on a new online learning system that jumpstarts the building and training of Catholic School Boards. The system will provide access to both self-paced coursework and real-time conversations with today’s most successful working Boards that have both responsibility and authority. These Boards are mission-driven, data-informed and equipped to take charge of their schools’ futures.
“This initiative expands on my father’s vision for Catholic school sustainability by extending nationwide the business practices and change management required,” said Christine L. Healey, Foundation President. “We need a repository for great Catholic School Board training content accessible to any school in the country, and the CFT network of professionals and partners along with their uniquely Catholic lens will help us create a solution for today’s challenges. We value their ability to understand our vision and help expand on it.”
In today’s Catholic schools, effective leadership goes beyond ensuring that they have strong Principal leaders and Directors of Advancement and Enrollment. Schools also need strong Board Governance.
The Board Building & Training envisioned by the Healey Education Foundation will focus on Building a Better Board Every Day for the Future of Catholic Schools. Offerings will include the online learning program, executive coaching and peer networking for school and board leaders of PK-12 Catholic schools. The program will share many best practices of nonprofit and independent school boards while also addressing diocesan, parish and religious governance structures.
The new online learning system will begin with a build-out in 2022 of modules focused on Board selection, recruitment, relationship building and orientation. Successive modules will address the Board’s role in defining the school’s unique value proposition, fiscal fitness, enrollment management, development and impact measurement, Catholic values, DEI, and other essential topics for working committees.
Healey Education Foundation partners with dioceses and fellow philanthropists who believe in the value of Catholic schools. Since its founding in 2004, the Foundation has grown to serve more than 200 elementary and high schools across 10 dioceses to bring sound business principles to the challenges of revitalizing Catholic schools.
