Valerie Asuncion

Director of Communications

Valerie Asuncion directs communications and public relations for the Foundation. Working with members of the Healey team, she develops and guides the brand and strategy for communicating the Healey Education Foundation’s mission and approach to Catholic school sustainability. In this role, Valerie also collaborates with the Foundation’s partners—fellow philanthropists, dioceses and schools—to help share their mutual stories and progress in Catholic school board governance.

Valerie has more than 25 years of experience in corporate and marketing communications. She oversaw internal and external communications, creative and editorial services and events management through prior positions at AMP Incorporated, Dun & Bradstreet/IMS International, GxP Partners and SAP.

She has directed multi-disciplinary teams executing the research, writing, design and production of communications for Fortune 500 global companies. She also served as a one-person marketing and communications department launching a software services business. Valerie received the PRSA’s Pepperpot & Achievement Merit Award for marketing communications/new services and the IABC Philadelphia Chapter’s EPIC Award of Excellence for marketing communications.

Valerie earned a BA summa cum laude in communications/public relations, with a minor in psychology, from Shippensburg University. She graduated from Lancaster Catholic High School and had also attended Saint Dorothy School in Drexel Hill, PA. Later, as a Catholic school parent, she served on an advisory council to the principal and oversaw events communications programs.

“ My daughters are third-generation Catholic school graduates. The Foundation advances the same cause that helped inspire and equip each of them to pursue her own path. I love this connection between my personal and professional life.
